Bang & Olufsen HX Premium ANC Headphones Released
Bang & Olufsen's Beoplay HX is the brand's latest premium ear-pleasers and boast digital ANC, up to 35 hours of play time and “elevated comfort”.
Beoplay HX certainly looks luxurious and has been designed to be lightweight, durable with ergonomics to allow comfortable all-day wear.
Audio is presented by two custom-designed 40mm speaker drivers with neodymium magnets and bass ports, ensuring optimal bass performance, states the manufacturer. The quoted effective frequency range is 20Hz–22kHz. A quartet of dedicated microphones promises impressive call quality through beamforming tech.
Sporting Bang & Olufsen's next-gen Digital Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation technology, you should be free of unwanted noise without compromising on sound quality. Additionally, the accompanying app offers a range of sound profiles and noise-cancelling presets.
High-end materials include memory foam earpads wrapped in soft lambskin, whereas the upper headband is made from smooth-grained cowhide with the lower portion covered in a knitted fabric.
The arm sliders are made of anodised, pearl blasted recycled aluminium with light brushed detail in the upper part. The disc is crafted from aluminium with a diamond spin finish nestled within a polymer-painted plastic structure, creating contrast between the alternating smooth and matte sensations.
Beoplay HX is said to achieve up to 35 hours of music playback with ANC on, around 40 with it off. Three hours of charging will take you from empty to a full battery. You also get Bluetooth 5.1, Microsoft Swift Pair, Google Fast Pair and Made for iPhone (MFi).
Available now in Black Anthracite, Beoplay HX has an RRP of €499 | US$499 . Sand and timber colourways to follow later this year.
WHAT WE THINK
Bang & Olufsen are seriously gunning for the likes of Sony's WH-1000XM4 and Apple's AirPod Max and, at least on battery stamina, the new Beoplay HX certainly has both licked. However, we'd need to check out the sonic capabilities of these new premium cans before making any further comments. Although, we do wonder if the Beoplay HX will be available in a more animal-friendly variety.
