Hey, why dont we compare our very first setup and the current ones that we have? ;D (Can edit your former postings???)

Mine:

10 years ago:

Audiolab 8000A Integrated Amp

Philips CD Player (Dunnoe what model)

NHT 1.3 bookshelf speakers

Hitachi Speaker cables

Monster Cable 400??? (Forgot liao)

Current system (All second hand, just bought them from Jan to June 2002):

Krell KSP-7B Pre Amp

Bryston 2B-LP Power Amp (60 W)

NHT VT1.2 Tower Speakers

Linn Genki CD Player

MIT Terminator 2 8-feet speaker cables

VDH Integration Interconnects (CD to Pre)

AudioQuest Ruby Interconnects (Pre to Power)

AudioQuest AC12 Power Cord

I now quite cheap-skate; all buy used stuffs. But I think they are affordable and good. ;D ;D

CDP : Marantz CD52MKIISE

Amp : MF A1

Speakers : Tannoy 609MKII

MFA1 really sound like how it operates...warm! Too bad can't really drive the 609 properly. Me only heard 609 bass capability after I changed to exposure.

AKAI HIFI SET(sperate amp,tuner,Cassette player,LP player & 12" woofer floor standing speaker,selling $1400++ 20 over year ago..actually sound not bad when i recall back....miss it ::) )---->AWIA 777 mini compo(WITH BBE AND DSL SOMEMORE man...OK !!? :o ;D ;D real lousy sound.....)--->mission 761(drive by the AWIA..)--->NAD 3020e----->AWIA Cassette player(still cant afford CD player that time.... :-\ )----->Proton CD-620.....and then go on....

Proton CD-620

NAD 3020e

mission 761

that was 13 years ago when i finally set up that, imagin every month save all my pocket $,hangpoa $,part time salary for almost 1 year just to buy that.....i also remenber my first "audiophile"interconnector is hitachi LC-OFC,becoz lack of $10,i got no choice but to buy a pair of 0.5m one instead of oringinal planning 1 m ...and FYI it only cost $32 1 m...! ;D ;D

actaully IMO the first set of hifi setup will affect how one person choose his High End audio component later on thru his life...becoz it will estabish the "impression' on "how the hifi should sound is consider good" in the mind of tis person thru up his life........it is espeacially ture if he really spend a lot of time in listening to his first setup...

1st utmost humble setup... (and don't laugh):

Nad C521 cdp

Rotel 931 Mk2 amp

Mission M71 spk

Ecosse Conductor i/c

Ecosse CS2.2 s/c

Bought the above setup totally new, because I'm a newbie, and because I listen to music with my eyes (trusted all the magazines...)

However after 3 months, now:

Marantz CD6000 ose cdp

Rotel RB/RC 970 BX pre-power

Tannoy MX3 floorstander

Belden 89259 i/c

Belden 1810a s/c

All used, except cables which is self made. I'm cheapo now, I'm stuborn now, as I no longer trust magazines (after getting bitten), and I finally listening to music with my ear...

;)
