Onkyo is "rough" and more kick/dynamic that's why more suitable for HT Some info: http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-onkyos-dtsx-and-dolby-atmos-compatible-tx-rz900-and-tx-rz800-av-receivers-are-now-singapor
Guest CASH
Yup.. its rough.. But ht is supposed to feel rough n raw. If u want toned down n refined feel... Pls go ahead n get other brands. They will never ever touch the raw feel of excitement that onkyo gives. I do know that onkyo cant deliver at all in the stereo side.. But do i look like i am concerned in that?? Just get a separate system if u really wanna venture into stereo side. For pure immersive ht... get a onkyo.. U wont have sleepless nites tweaking it.. Raw n uncut sound for ht nirvana. Marantz- soft.. no power.. Denon- refined..no power.. Yamaha- cant make it.. Pioneer- close to it.. but will shut down while hot swoping hdmi cables.. Hmmm.. Debate is on! Bring it on guys! Hehehehe!!!!
Guest CASH
i can offer my onkyo 3030 for a head on test against the top models(only top models, no 2nd rated ones!!!) of other brands. only thing i ask for is, u have to pick me up from my place in pasir ris to your place( n send me back !! ; )). as i do not have lisence to drive. i have tried all these test with other brands.. none will ever smell the dust left behind by onkyo. True..true... but I wonder whether you can still "heard and feel" its power when using your 3030 as pre-amp bcoz you are no longer using built-in amplifier (built by Onkyo) to drive your speakers? All channels are driven by external multi-channel amplifier (different brand). then what is a point spend extra money to get flagship model in order to get bigger wpc. ??? HT102
The new Onkyo DTS:X ready receivers TX-RZ900 and TX-RZ800 are in Sg, has anyone done a demo on them? http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-onkyos-dtsx-and-dolby-atmos-compatible-tx-rz900-and-tx-rz800-av-receivers-are-now-singapor

joagib
Is the new tx-rz900 a flagship model? Should not be the flagship. Usually flagship is enable with all channels preout, this one only 7.2 channels preout capability.Another thing to look into is whether it can bi-amp or assigned all channels, or at least the front LCR.But so far the only avr that I know n used before which can assigned or bi-amp all channels is the Pioneer beast LX90 Susano, even comes with Coaxial Out. Jagdpanzer
In terms of audio quality, which is better? Onkyo RZ900, Yamaha 2050 or Denon 7200 WA? Onkyo RZ900 somehow only boasts of its toroidal transformer. The asahi kasei chipset is unheard of.

BigHammer
Any news when onkyo going to release its top model? Im so tempting to get Denon x7200WA as according to reviews and forumers the SQ is so 'real' when playing dolby atmos. Somehow, I still agree with Cash that we should feel the 'roughness' while enjoying HT.
Guest CASH
now guys... i dont lie when i say none of the other brands can match or touch onkyo. read bro tiktopapes summary of how marantz compares to denon..(in the denon thread) now, when u put denon against onkyo, it will lose out too! my dad had a top range marantz those days, as well as i had a top range onkyo. i dragged my onkyo over to pit it against it. he was left speechless. i can dare say onkyo will beat the denons too. even though onkyo has left audessy aside.. it will beat any brand wholesale. marantz.. no power, soft. denon.. no power, but refined.. the others, no where near it.. hahahaha!!! ;D
Guest CASH
to me, marantz is jus way overpriced with nothing to offer.. denon, is jus trying to play catch up.. yammy.. no where close.. pioneer, lost its focus.. ;D

Yes Onkyo have the upper hand. But when come to background music and emotional scene. I give my credit to Marantz. The depth of the soundstage is so much better than Onkyo. joagib
[quote author=CASH denon.. no power, but refined.. +1 bro! Thats the fact for Denon Avr.. Thats why I preout my Denon 5200 all 9 channels to dual xpa5 & Front LR to A38.... For Pioneer, maybe can see any bro here who has the LX90 Susano to shootout with Onkyo 3030,its not just a beast, its a killer that I ever owned. Setbacks are its without internet radio ,no wifi,no bluetooth.

Is it really that good on this transformer? does it make a big different? definitely an improvement over sound but does it worth the different is an another story. (For me, I always prefer) From Onkyo Marketing: the TX-RZ900’s custom toroidal transformer and capacitors help to reproduce ultra-low frequencies down to 5 Hz so you can feel the bass impact in your chest. Our high-current amplification system also enables enhanced control of the speakers for accurate and dynamic sound.
