Pioneer plasma / LED panel thread - share info and tips

Recommended Posts

Hi friends

Now that I have got one of the last pieces in my HT - the video display, I hope friends who also own this TV can share their tips and info so that others may benefit.

First can the owners come in?

1) petetherock - 507 XG (bought as a display set - <5k - BD PC SHOW 5/07 )

The set should be mounted slightly below eye level, eg if it is wall mounted, about 90 cm from the ground or if it is on a shelf, about 40-45cm off the ground for my 50"

Running in:

How long is a common question on heaps of threads all over the world.

I was told by the Pioneer man, abut 100hrs is fine, and just drop the settings by about 20% or so.

I currently use 20 on the contrast and keep all the boosting setting off first.

Actually when it is viewed in dim light you get a very bright picture still.

This website gives details of running in and also settings for different connections:

Entering the menu:

************DO NOT PLAY WITH THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING**************

To Enter the Service Menu

Start with the plasma turned OFF

Make sure you point the remote directly at the IR sensor in the tv

Press the I (info) button (directly above blue/play button) on the remote (just press, do not hold)

Wait 3 seconds

Press LEFT, UP, LEFT, RIGHT then POWER

If done correctly, the plasma turns on and the INFORMATION page is displayed, will change 3 times on its own quickly.

You should see this:

Navigate to the 3rd screen to see the number of hours.

the review of the 427 states that it won't receive 1080p/50-60hz inputs from upscaling DVD players...what does this mean, in realworld terms?

does it mean that a denon 2930 or upscaling XE1 or PS3 would be wasted on this display?

Ming and HT102, if you can wait, the new one maybe your baby :)

Thks bro for the links. Hopefully the 8th-gen full-HD will suppress my upgraditits for the next 3 years.

Actually I can hardly wait anymore.. my 2 kids are fighting for the only TV in the apt.. the 3-year-old is now trying to learn how to operate my PJ.  >:(

Anyone care to share their setting configured for their 427 (esp those who have done the ISF calibration) ?

I got these "so-called" optimal setting from one of the AV forum.

AV selection = user

Contrast = 32

Brightness = +3

Color = +5

Tint = -2

Sharpness = -4

Pure Cinema = Off

CTI = Off

DNR = Low

MPEG NR = Low

They did a ISF calibration on my 427 but they locked the exact tweaks in the menu so that I can't see it....I can't even change any of the ISF parameters ???
