Rumour has it that Onkyo is going out of business. Sony might also close AVR business.

2020 is proving to be a disaster for so many companies. The audio industry is also taking a beating.

Audioholics put out a video on Onkyo going out of business and Sony might also pull the plug on the AVR business.

 

What a pity. I thought Onkyo receivers are pretty good. Wonder if it affects Pioneer or not.

Without them, think D&M will rule the general consumer AVR business, with Yamaha hanging around.

When multiple companies have looked at a take over of Onkyo Corporation, and walked away, the writing is on the wall.

Pioneer has continued to split its divisions and distribution, and slowly dwindled more and more. They stopped innovating a long time ago, and they were held up by the DJ division for a long time. 

 

Matter of time.

Pioneer/Onkyo both owned by Onkyo Corporation, which has been looking for a buyer for some time now.

sadly the last flagship onkyo was launched way back in 2016 (tx-rz3100)... only in the europe market, onkyo launched the tx-rz3400 in Sep 2019... other than that, no news or updates on any new flagship recievers. very dissapointed in how onkyo has dwindled in the ht market...

Just bought a pair of wharfedale diamond 225 to go with my Onkyo AV receiver...

 

hope Onkyo will still be around much longer.

Onkyo....Tannoy....used to be the matching combo from Tat Chuan in those days when I watched Top Gun LD version in my friend house who owned this OT combo...
