Great sounding shows on Netflix

Recommended Posts

Netflix's Dolby Atmos shows - some sound really meh and some sounds very good.

Recently, noticed a couple of Netflix shows with really good use of Atmos.

- The Order

- Warrior Nun

It's great when the sound is awesome... makes the show a lot better, I feel.

Hi, maybe this is off topic but is Netflix Atmos only available on 4k content? That is, it won't be available if you have a full HD TV despite having the premium subscription and Netflix streaming devices with known Netflix Atmos support?

Netflix Customer Service couldn't give a satisfactory answer, unable to understand technical question.

[After note] Tested with Windows 10 (with Dolby Access), Netflix Dolby Atmos is also available on non 4K content, ie playable on full HD TV with Atmos tracks.

quoted:

Jupiter's Legacy Season 1 comes to the UK on Netflix, with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos too, framed in alternating widescreen aspect ratios - 1.78:1 for the flashback sequences, and 2.35:1 for present day - and looking pretty unsurprisingly impressive as per Netflix's standard presentations, notwithstanding the obvious caveat: things can get extremely dark. Indeed, three episodes in, and DV is clearly working overtime to allow the creators access to the deepest, darkest, inkiest blacks imaginable and whilst there's no signs of crush, there's really no sign of anything much else either, with only a few DV highlights popping in the oblivion (reds, blues, greens and energy signatures). Detail is excellent, and production value superb other than just how dark things can get (compare the nightclub scene to the equivalent in something like the John Wick films for an idea of just what level Netflix's Dolby Vision operates at).
