  2. In case anyone is wondering, the new mics cost usd195, vs the old UMIK-1 costing usd75 only if u r just measuring just to identify room problems, the UMIK 1 would suffice . Don’t even need the ones from cross spectrum lab, they are identical, I found no difference whatsoever with the ones coming from CSL however if you using the mic for Dirac live room correction, then you will benefit greatly from this improved version Biggest benefits are Low noise , so u can have better signal to noise ratio, at higher volumes. Can also take in higher readings for subs without clipping

  3. Got the Parasound. Family members are happy because easy to use and familiar button/dial layout like my previous Marantz. Bass management is easy to use and happy that there's a dedicated subwoofer level dial on the front panel so that I can easily increase bass volume if needed (eg: movies vs music) Initial impressions are positive. Most noticeable is the improved back/front soundstaging. But it definitely benefits from warm-up before proper listen. As I'm using my PC to send data via USB to the DAC, I reset my APO Equalizer curves except for the confirmed 44Hz room mode

  5. Were you like me, influenced to buy after reading HiFi News and Record Review, Hi Fi Choice and What Hi Fi? Those mags raved about the NAD3020, Pioneer A400, MF A1, Audiolab 8000, Audio Innovations, Mission Cyrus. Speaker wise Heybrook, Epos, MF, JPW, TDL (I still have my TDL Nucleus 1, which after mods have no right to sound so good for $200). Those were happy days of Hi Fi. I just enjoyed the music with cheap cables and inaccurate speaker placement. I never knew anything about imaging, soundstage, height, depth etc.

  6. Hi friends! I am giving up my room system, hence selling my SL1200G (one of my two units, I am keeping one unit). Hardly 2 years old. Played less than 30 hours. Launched in the U.K. at £2999, I was one of the first to grab them. I even kept the original Technics box (still intact because it was specially triple shielded and in a final enlarged box, according to my request, when it was shipped from the U.K. .). Selling with original Technics headshell. Inclusive of meticulous shipping (very heavy too) and GST, total investment was $6900+. I am now selling at $4200.

  19. ya, spec wise JBL is the best with dante, logic16, 9028 dac (not as good as AC X9 but quite decent), free tier 1 DLBC plus free future Dirac upgrades, but Dante and Logic16 not really useable now. after Arcam AVR/AV series released for 11 months and JBL SDP55 released for more than half a year, firmware 1.4 still buggy like hell. though Arcam claim they are working on a "serious" upgrade this time, I am not confident that the long list of issues can be resolved any time soon, and dont think dante is in their priority list since Dante user probably lesser. nevertheless, lets wait and see. 26. Yes if possible, use all 4 auxiliary for subwoofers. You can count on RP to do a decent job with its auto eq function the voicings you see in the processor, are just house curves used. The action curve applies a house curve of +6db from about 120hz to 30hz, using a high shelf filter, the movie action curve has the same filters + gentle roll off from 8khz onwards , about 1-2db . So the action + movie has a high frequency roll off, something similar to Audyssey “reference curve” so depending on how reverberant the room is, each filter will work differently If you have a lot of ab

  34. For both stereo and HT, I am yet to find a system that cannot be improved with room correction, whether it be DEQX, Trinnov, Dirac Live, and the other variants. For purists (myself included) and stereo it can be very easy to over process the sound though I have found. I always end up bypassing the room correction eventually. For cinema, it's a different story - I use a Trinnov Altitude16 which is easily the most powerful and most accurate room correction you can get and the results are amazing. I have also used Dirac Live's latest version with great results in my 7.2.6 Atmos system.

  37. I only have the recent re-issue single disc that was pressed in EU, and it already sounds very good. I remember I used to have the Simply Vinyl version back when I was in Singapore, but can't seem to find it. Some lucky fella must have bought it from me very cheap when I was rushing to move. That one would have sounded much better.

  40. Don't rule out the Devialet Expert Pro series. It looks expensive until you start to analyse the feature count. If you are a Roon user, and your intended speaker is on the list of SAM models, I would give it serious consideration. Having a digital pathway inside the amp and DSP opens up a whole world of possibilities.

  43. I loved the looks of the Giya range but found the Kaya range rather distasteful. Guess this is subjective and one man's meat may be another man's poison. Have not heard the Kaya yet but I absolutely love my Giya. I have paired them with dual rythmik sub to very good effect... subtle and it adds to the soundstaging very positively.

  46. The Mexcel 2500 is also available also in XLR (it's a twister pair cable). I am guessing a bit here since my 2500 is RCA, but the 3300 is more even handed while the 2500 is more musical and has that bit of extra push. Tonality wise, the 2090 and 2080 are quite similar if that helps. Top drawer XLR model would be the 6300
