I had the room correction preamp TACT 2.2XP preamp many years ago when my 2 channel hifi was in my small room. At that time, i was using floorstanders, Kharma 3.2FE and Sonus Faber Amati and there was always a bass boom in the room regardless of how I positioned my speakers. The TACT 2.2XP did a great job by removing the boom and improving the overall sound. However there is a downside to it. As the 2.2XP room correction is done in the digital domain, all signal including my analog playback sounded digital after the correction. At the point, I have no choice but to live with it.
Subsequently when my 2 channel setup was moved to the living room, I stopped using room correction and now my analog playback does not sound digital anymore. As the living room is big, I do not have bass boom even with a larger floorstander. So if you do not have room issue, I suggest do not use digital room correction.
